Privacy policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026 ReviewStackHQ is a site where we review and compare software, AI tools and digital products. This page explains what personal information the site collects, what we do with it, and what you can ask us to do about it. If anything here is unclear, write to us at hello@reviewstackhq.com and a person will answer. The short version You can read everything on the site without giving us any personal information. If you write to us or join the newsletter, we keep the details you give us so we can reply or send you emails. Analytics are off until you click Accept on the cookie banner. We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use advertising networks on this site. You can ask us to show you, fix or delete what we have about you at any time. What we collect, and why When you contact us The contact form asks for your name, email address and a message. The form also saves the IP address it was sent from, which helps us spot spam. We use this only to read your message and answer it. Emails you send straight to hello@reviewstackhq.com are handled the same way. When you join the newsletter We collect your email address. We also keep a record that you agreed to hear from us: the wording of the checkbox, the date and time, and your IP address. This record is our proof that you signed up yourself. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link, and you can also just email us and ask to be removed. When you read the site Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically logs basic technical details of each visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. We don't use these logs to build a profile of you. They exist so the site runs properly and so we can investigate attacks and errors. When you click an affiliate link Some links on the site (they go through addresses starting with /go/) take you to a company's website. When you click one, the site adds one to a click counter for that link and sends you on. The counter doesn't store anything about you. Once you are on the company's site, their own privacy policy applies, and they may set their own cookies, which they use to credit us if you buy. Our affiliate disclosure explains how that works. Cookies and similar tools What What it does How long it lasts Session cookie (sid) Keeps forms such as the contact form and newsletter signup secure, and keeps our own editors logged in. Until you close your browser Your cookie choice Remembers whether you pressed Accept or Decline on the banner. It is stored in your browser, not sent to us. Until you clear this site's data in your browser Google Analytics Shows us, in aggregate, which pages people read. Loaded only if you press Accept, and we ask Google to shorten IP addresses. Set by Google. Their documentation has the details. If you press Decline, or ignore the banner, Google Analytics is not loaded. To see the banner again, clear this site's data in your browser settings. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser at any time, though forms may stop working if you block the session cookie. How we use your information To answer your messages. To send the newsletter to people who asked for it. To keep the site secure and stop spam and abuse. To understand, in aggregate, which articles are useful, but only if you accepted analytics. To meet legal obligations, if we are ever required to. We don't use your information to make automated decisions about you. Who we share it with We share information only with the services that help us run the site: Our hosting provider, which stores the site, its database and the logs mentioned above. An email service provider, which sends the newsletter on our behalf and handles unsubscribes. It receives subscribers' email addresses. Google, if you accept analytics. We don't sell your personal information. We don't use advertising networks or ad trackers on this site. We may disclose information if the law requires it or to protect the site and its users from fraud or abuse. How long we keep it We keep messages for as long as we need to answer them and deal with any follow-up. Newsletter details stay until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them. After you unsubscribe we may keep a minimal record of your address so we don't email you again by mistake. You can ask us to delete your information earlier at any time. Your choices and rights You can unsubscribe from the newsletter with the link at the bottom of any email. You can also email us to ask us to: tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy, correct anything that is wrong, delete your information. We will check that the request comes from the email address we have on file, usually by replying to it, and we aim to answer within 45 days. We won't treat you differently for making a request. If you live in the United States Depending on your state, for example California, Colorado, Virginia or Connecticut, privacy laws may give you the rights listed above, plus the right to opt out of the sale of personal information and of targeted advertising. We don't sell personal information and we don't do targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of. Browsers have a "Do Not Track" setting, but there is no common standard for it, so we don't act on it. Analytics stay off unless you accept them. You can use the email address at the bottom of this page to make a request, or to appeal an answer you disagree with. If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland We handle your information because you asked us to (for instance when you write to us), because you gave your consent (the newsletter and analytics), or because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the site secure and free of spam. You can withdraw consent at any time. You also have the right to object to how we use your information and to complain to your local data protection authority. Our site and the services we use can process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. Children This site is written for adults and isn't aimed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from them. If you think a child has sent us their details, email us and we will delete them. No system is perfectly safe, so we can't promise absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect what you send us. Links to other sites Our articles link to other websites.
