1. Find out who is selling

Look for a real business or personal name, a contact email and a physical or registered address on the sales page or in the terms. A seller who hides all of this is harder to reach if something goes wrong.

2. Read the guarantee wording carefully

"Money-back guarantee" can mean very different things. Find the answers to these questions in writing:

3. Know who processes the payment

Your receipt usually shows the payment processor or marketplace. Their own policies on refunds and disputes may apply in addition to the seller's. Check the processor's terms as well as the seller's.

4. Choose a payment method with dispute protection

Credit cards and some payment services allow you to dispute a charge if the seller does not deliver or ignores a valid refund request. Debit cards, bank transfers and gift cards often offer less protection. The rules differ by country and provider, so check yours.

5. Be sceptical about income and results claims

Be cautious about any product that promises specific earnings, guaranteed results or "secret" methods. Look for clear information about what you will actually receive: the format, length, support and updates.

6. Watch for upsells at checkout

Some checkouts add extra items or a recurring subscription with a pre-ticked box. Review the order summary and the total before confirming.

7. Contact the seller before you buy

Send a question to the support address. A prompt and clear answer is a good sign; no answer before payment rarely improves afterwards.

8. Keep records

Save the sales page (a screenshot or PDF), the receipt, the terms, and any emails. If you need a refund, this evidence helps.

If you need a refund

  1. Act within the guarantee period. Do not wait until the last day.
  2. Follow the seller's stated process and keep a copy of your request.
  3. If the seller does not respond, contact the payment processor or marketplace.
  4. Use a card or payment dispute as a last resort, with your records ready.
